How do I think and feel about myself as a parent?

People have ideas about parenthood. We want to learn how these ideas affect the way we think and feel about ourselves. If you would like to participate in this paid research study, you will be asked to install a smartphone app and answer daily surveys about yourself over several months.

What will I be asked to do in this study?

In this study, you will be asked to share your impressions, thoughts, and feelings about yourself and other parents. If you agree to participate, the expected duration of the study will be ~6 hours, spread out over ~6 months. We will compensate you for your time at a rate of $12 USD/hour. If you complete all parts of the study, you will be awarded a $20 bonus. In total, you can receive up to $100 USD.

You are eligible if you own a smartphone. You can choose to be paid through Zelle (US bank accounts only), through Amazon gift cards, or through Prolific if you have a Prolific account.

How do I get started?

Thank you for your interest! The study has six parts. Here's a short summary of each part:

  1. Sign up for our study. If you are eligible, we will schedule a call to invite you to the study. (2 mins)
  2. Complete an online survey. You will be asked to reflect on who you are and share your thoughts on parenthood. (75 mins)
  3. Download a phone app. Answer daily surveys about yourself, twice a day for 3 weeks. (3 mins each)
  4. Wait a few months, and then we'll contact you to complete another online survey. (75 mins)
  5. Use the app again. Answer daily surveys about yourself, twice a day for 3 weeks. (3 mins each)
  6. Get debriefed about our research and receive the final end-of-study bonus. (5 mins)
